About GitHubFolder

A free, open-source tool for grabbing exactly the folder you need from a GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket repo — nothing more, nothing less.

Our mission

GitHubFolder exists to solve one specific annoyance: you only need one subfolder from a repository, but the only official option is cloning or downloading the entire thing. GitHubFolder lets you paste the URL of any public folder on GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket and get back a ZIP of just that folder — nothing else gets fetched, nothing else takes up space on your disk. The whole process runs client-side in your browser, requires no sign-up, and doesn't ask you to install a CLI or create an access token.

Why we built it

Tools like download-directory.github.io, DownGit, and GitZip already solve this problem functionally, and we respect what they do. But they tend to be visually dated, offer no way to preview what you're about to download, and give little confidence about exactly what's inside the ZIP before it lands on your machine. We wanted a version of this tool with a proper file-tree preview, so you can see and select individual files and folders before committing to a download, plus a modern interface that doesn't feel like a leftover from a decade-old GitHub Gist. If you'd like the full walkthrough of how the download flow works end to end, see the how-to guide, or browse real-world use cases to see where a tool like this fits into a normal workflow.

Free, no catch

GitHubFolder is completely free to use — no account, no download limits, no paywalled features. If something looks off or you hit an edge case the tool doesn't handle, the FAQ covers the most common questions, and the contact page is the fastest way to reach us directly.

Who's behind it

GitHubFolder is one tool in getinfotoyou's suite of free web tools — small, focused, single-purpose utilities that run entirely in your browser with no accounts and no data collection. You can see the rest of what we've built at getinfotoyou.com.
