Download any folder from a GitHub repo — no git clone required
Paste a link to a folder in any public GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket repository and get a ZIP of just that folder — nothing else. Preview every file first, pick what you want, download in seconds.
Folder contents
Why GitHubFolder instead of cloning the whole repo
Every other folder-download tool zips blind — you don't know what you're getting until it's on your disk. GitHubFolder shows you first.
See the file tree first
Every file and folder is listed with checkboxes before anything downloads — pick exactly what you need, skip the rest.
No token required
A server-side token pool automatically covers you if GitHub's public rate limit runs out — you never have to create your own token.
GitHub, GitLab & Bitbucket
The same paste-a-URL workflow works across all three major hosts, not just GitHub.
Copy as curl / API link
Developers can grab a scriptable API link instead of clicking through the UI every time.
Recent downloads, stored locally
Your last few downloads are saved in your browser only — nothing about what you download is ever sent anywhere.
Light or dark, your call
Follows your system preference by default, with a one-click toggle if you'd rather choose yourself.
How it works
Three steps, no installation. The full method comparison — including the git-CLI and SVN-based alternatives — is in the complete how-to guide.
-
Paste the folder URL
Copy the address bar URL while browsing any subfolder on GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket and paste it above.
-
Review the file tree
GitHubFolder lists every file and folder inside with checkboxes, all selected by default — uncheck anything you don't need.
-
Download your ZIP
Everything checked is fetched and zipped right in your browser, then saved to your device.
Frequently asked questions
More in the full FAQ.
Can you download a single folder from GitHub?
Yes. Paste the folder's GitHub URL (the one with /tree/branch/path in it) into GitHubFolder and it downloads just that subfolder as a ZIP — GitHub's own web interface only lets you download an entire repository.
Do I need a GitHub account or access token?
No. Most folders download with no sign-in at all. A server-side token pool only kicks in automatically if GitHub's public rate limit is temporarily exhausted.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The ZIP is built entirely in your browser from files fetched directly from the host's raw content servers — nothing passes through our servers, and your recent-downloads history stays in your browser's local storage only.
